MARENA RIYAD

“FEMME FATALE OF THE MIDDLE EAST”

MAJENIN

aPalestinian love story

A new original play by Marena Riyad, MAJENIN is a tale of two fools who dare to fall in love in a world obsessed with their sadness. The unexpected love becomes a full-scale occupation of the mind, heart, and soul.

Previews at London Pleasance Aug 1

Edinburgh Fringe at 10 Dome Aug 5-31

Marena Riyad is a Palestinian-American whose humor moves between heartbreak and seduction. Born in a refugee camp in the West Bank and “kidnapped” to America at ten, she turns displacement into dark, magnetic comedy. The self-proclaimed Femme Fatale of the Middle East, Marena brings a sharp, refreshingly pessimistic take on love, identity, and the absurdity of belonging. Her work has carried her from the stages of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to clubs and theaters across the world, where she makes women laugh and men pine — often at the same time.
